P13 - AEIFORIA
- Last Updated: 04 February 2016
AEIFORIA is an academic SME of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) that acts as a permanent platform for valorisation and transposition of research results on food science, environmental chemistry and ecotoxicology. AEIFORIA is a profit organisation, its activity aims to respond to market needs providing services that are developed in Institute of Environmental Chemistry (ICAA), and in the Research Centre on Sustainability (OPERA), and translated in business. A first package of services is related to monitoring activities and to evaluation and risk analysis, a second to responsible and sustainable management of processes and technological tools. Aeiforia activities includes transfer of knowledge through communication and training of operators and consumers, stewardship project for the implementation of best practices, study in compliance with GLP and standard requirements. Previous relevant experience include the assessment of groundwater and surface water in Po valley, Operator and bystanders exposure to soil fumigants, mitigation of point source and diffuse contamination by agrochemicals, programs for sustainable development of farms, risk of contamination of surface and groundwater in paddy fields. AEIFORIA will contribute in the development/application of reliable, low energy cost and simple monitoring system (and related sampling), in the data collection, data processing and modelling, stakeholder involvement, workshop organisation. Together with its network Aeiforia can guarantee operability in Greece, Italy, Belgium, Poland and Romania.
Key personnel involved
Prof. Marco Trevisan is professor at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Piacenza, Italy), Director of the ‘Istituto di Chimica Agraria ed Ambientale’ at Università Cattolica, Director of the research centre BIOMASS and President at Aeiforia. He is member of the national commission on biocides. His main research activities are related to the study of fate and behaviour of pesticides in food and environment through the use of models, analytical determinations, and biotechnologies. He has been involved in several EU projects, such as GENESIS, ECOPROWINE, ARTWET.
Dr. Federico Ferrari has a PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Ecology of Pesticides (Università degli Studi, Milano, Italy). He is Scientific Director at Aeiforia. At present he is coordinating the EU 7FP project 4FUN. His main expertise concerns analytical, modelling, and field studies on the environmental fate and dissipation of chemicals, and the exposure of operators and bystander to chemicals. He has been involved in several EU projects, such as ARTWET, ECOPROWINE, LOVETOHATE.
Dr. Alice Tediosi holds a Ph.D.in Technological Innovation for Agricultural, Nutritional and Environmental Sciences, with a thesis in the field of herbicide transport from land to surface waters. She has experience in pesticide fate modelling, and in water balance modelling to assess crop water requirements for irrigation purposes. She worked in the field of environment and territory. In Aeiforia, she works on projects funded by the European Union.
Mr. Tommaso Ferrari holds a MSc in Agri-environmental and Lanscape Sciences (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Piacenza, Italy). He is responsible of the field studies at Aeiforia. His main expertise concerns dissipation and emission studies in GLP, exposure of operators and bystanders to chemicals, analytical characterization of water and soil, field leaching studies, and determination of pesticide residues on environmental matrixes.
